Solidarity Action for the Philippines
10 December @ 9:00am – 11:00am AWST
Commemorate UN Human Rights Day on Tuesday 10 December by joining your union and Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA at the Philippine Consulate, 1/21 Biscayne Way, Jandakot from 9am to protest the grave repression of trade unions in the Philippines.
In the past three years, more than 43 trade unionists have been murdered in the Philippines. Countless more are threatened with violence and false criminal charges.
Unionists, journalists and human rights activists critical of the government or assertive of their right to organise have been labelled terrorists and enemies of the state, and put on anti-terror lists, in an effort to discredit them and make them vulnerable targets. This is a propaganda technique called red tagging.
We enjoy such comparative freedoms here in Australia. We must take a stand for our comrades and show solidarity. Please join us on Tuesday.
In addition to this Day of Protest, a webinar has been scheduled on 9 December – follow this link for more details: https://ieuwa.org.au/…/dying-for-labour-rights-in-the-phil…/
