Your union, the IEUA WA Branch is supporting the national initiative being implemented by the Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership which is being funded by the Government of Western Australia, in conjunction with the Australian Government and all other state and territory governments.
The Australian Teacher Workforce Data (ATWD) project is an exciting initiative that is building a comprehensive picture of the national teaching workforce, across all systems and sectors, from initial teacher education through to end of teaching career.
The ATWD is a valuable resource that will allow us to work together to ensure that teachers are well supported, and schools are well resourced to deliver quality learning for every child.
After families, teachers are the number one influence on the learning lives of our children. To ensure teachers are properly supported throughout their careers, it’s important that we understand the challenges and opportunities they face.
Understanding the profession
To properly understand the teaching workforce, AITSL need to hear from teachers. The ATWD Teacher Survey is the teacher voice in the ATWD, providing an opportunity for teachers to help us understand their work experiences and how we might address the opportunities and challenges facing the profession.
The ATWD Teacher Survey
The ATWD Teacher Survey is a voluntary, 10-minute survey that is provided to teachers annually. This crucial component of the ATWD will help us gain real insight into the modern teaching experience. For example:
- What are the trends in out-of-field teaching, teaching loads and non-teaching activities?
- Where are there shortages in specialisation?
How to participate in the ATWD Teacher Survey
This year, teachers and principals can access their unique link to participate in the ATWD Teacher Survey through the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia Teacher Login from the end of September.
The IEU encourages all teacher members to participate.
